The AAAV Wine Education Scholarship Program’s purpose is to assist Black and other under-resourced students seeking a career in the wine industry through scholarships, internships, and mentorship. We raise money to support and grow progress toward an equitable, cross-generational and sustainable future.

The AAAV Wine Education Scholarship Program’s purpose is to assist Black and other under-resourced students seeking a career in the wine industry through scholarships, internships, and mentorship. We raise money to support and grow progress toward an equitable, cross-generational and sustainable future.
We partner with Sonoma State University and their Wine Business Institute to support the next generation of wine business students. The AAAV Wine Business Scholarship builds diversity in the wine industry, brings awareness to Black winemakers, and provides financial assistance to students from underrepresented backgrounds pursuing a career in the wine industry. The scholarship award is $5,000 towards tuition. For more information, please visit the SSU scholarship page.
AAAV partners with Napa Valley Wine Academy (NVWA) to assist those supporting diversity in the wine marketplace and support minority students pursuing wine education or a career in the wine industry. Our joint scholarship program offers up to 24 scholarships per year through courses facilitated by NVWA that covers all WSET levels from Level 1 through Level 4 as well as the American Wine Expert, Business of Wine Online, and others. With the intention to provide Black, BIPOC and/or other minorities with opportunities to work at AAAV-member wine businesses, participants will enhance their knowledge and experience within the wine industry. We will dedicate $2,500 to each of up to five AAAV member winery interns to help cover expenses such as relocation costs, temporary housing, and transportation. AAAV and Urban Connoisseurs proudly support this scholarship administered by United Negro College Fund (UNCF). The Black Winemakers Scholarship allows students to gain access to funds to support their career pursuit in the wine industry with a Bachelor of Science degree in Viticulture, Enology, or Wine Business Management. Scholarships are awarded annually to students who meet the eligibility requirements. For more information please visit the UNCF website.
